Written By Chase Duncan Photos By Weston Hook Local News With the frigid air biting at his hands on a cloudy Sunday afternoon, Winthrop senior and Rising Artist of Winthrop president Mars Simpson stood in front of a crowd of several dozen people from the local Rock Hill area with a microphone in hand.  Defying the cold weather and the chilling actions of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement across the United States, Mars led fellow protesters in rallying chants against the Trump administration’s controversial actions in Minneapolis and other cities across the country. “We want justice, we want peace, we want ICE off our streets,” Simpson said....

Written By Leanna Sheffield Opinion Mars Simpson is a senior at Winthrop University and the president of the Rising Artists of Winthrop (RAW) organization. He was one of the speakers and chant leaders at the ICE protest in Downtown Rock Hill on Sunday, February 8th.  The RMR staff had a chance to interview Simpson after the protest and talk with him about the importance of being involved in activism events within the community.
