Headline: CSL loses authority over chartering new organizations over Winthrop Students for Life 

Byline: Chase Duncan, Guest Writer The Winthrop Council of Student Leaders (CSL)has lost its authority to charter new student organizations after it denied chartering to a Winthrop chapter of the pro-life advocacy organization Students for Life America (SFLA), following an unanimously approved resolution by the Board of Trustees. Many students at Winthrop might not recognize him by name, but Beck has been a familiar face at Winthrop for the past several years as a tabling vendor inside the DiGiorgio Campus Center, where he would sell Marxist literature and merchandise to students. Winthrop University recently chartered and recognized The Rising Artists of Winthrop – a transformative take on what it means to be an art club.  Within the last 139 years of Winthrop University, the arts have played a significant role in the school’s success. From elaborate theatre productions to stunning orchestra performances, Winthrop has maintained a significant place in the larger Rock Hill community as its beating heart. Since its official conception in 1989, the College of Visual and Performing Arts has always had the goal to uplift art students and give them a place to grow.
