As Christmas Day inches closer, Rock Hill is ready to share holiday cheer for the community’s family and friends!

The 20th anniversary of ChristmasVille begins this year on Dec. fourth, and ends on Dec. seventh. The festival honors illustrative artist Vernon Grant, and highlights the life of the Rock Hill community.

The events in the festival include; A Vernon Grant Art exhibit, Gingerbread House, Cardboard Ornaments, and Lego Displays, Street Entertainment, Santa’s Workshop, Grant the Gnome’s Grand Playland, a Historic Trolley Tour and Carriage Rides, Christmas Caroling, A Santa Storytelling, and Breakfast with Mr. and Mrs. Clause.

The most notable community favorites are the Jingle Bell Parade, A Taste of ChristmasVille, and a Farewell from Santa in his Santa Sendoff.

Most of ChristmasVille’s entertainment runs from the fourth to the seventh from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

ChristmasVille has also created events catering to the adult enjoyers as well, such as; Jim Shore Brunch and Banter, Vendor Village, Beer Garden, Bourbon and Scotch Tasting, Toast of the Town: A ChristmasVille Wine Tasting, and a Jingle Shells Oyster Roast.

ChristmasVille isn’t the only event spreading holiday festivities around Rock Hill. On Dec. fifth, Winthrop University hosted their 90th Annual Tree Lighting, supported by The Alumni Association and Alumni Student Council. The lighting was catered with entertainment by the Winthrop RockHettes, The Winthrop Chorale, and Collegiate Choir.

After the Annual Tree Lighting, Winthrop Students, Staff, and Rock Hill community members are invited to attend the Rock Hill Christmas Parade beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Oakland Ave.

For more information of Christmas events and festivities, it is encouraged to visit Winthrop University’s website for more information on specific events, as well as Visit York County and ChristmasVille’s website.
