Winthrop students can buy and sell student produced merchandise at Student-Made’s storefront at The Hickory Post. Student-Made Rock Hill opened its doors in April, however the official ribbon-cutting ceremony was Sept. 4.
The store sells student made artwork, accessories, apparel and more.
“[…] here, Winthrop students don’t just sell products, they build confidence, learn real world business skills and connect with a community that believes in their potential,” Eduardo Venegas, Economic Development Specialist for the City of Rock Hill, said.
Graduated Illustration major Zoe Ruth Long and junior graphic design major Cielia Mihuc both said selling goods at the store helped boost their confidence.
Junior art education major Kieser Pas and sophomore psychology major Madeline Kivett both wanted to get more involved in school and Rock Hill and found Student-Made great opportunity to work with entrepreneurs
Student-Made has partnered with around 20 universities across the country – allowing students to share their creativity with their communities.
Hickory made’s owner, Sarah Vining hopes to foster engagement with student creators through Student-Made.
“My business turned into an incubator for businesses,” Vining said.
