47th President Donald Trump continues his parade of executive orders, creating a poignant impact on American Society. From orders that restrict Americans from expressing themselves fully, to orders that shatter America’s ideals of representing a diverse population, Trump is not afraid to impose ideologies that negatively impact the majority of the United States.
On January 20, 2025, multiple unprecedented orders were implemented, beginning with an Immigration policy titled, “Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship” This policy states that a person will lose their U.S. citizenship if, at the time of their birth, their mother was either in the U.S. illegally or on a temporary visa, and their father was not a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident. If both parents lacked permanent legal status in the U.S. when the person was born, their citizenship will be revoked.
On the same day, Trump’s administration announced the implementation of, “Securing Our Borders”. These actions aim to secure the borders by implementing barriers, deterring illegal immigration, removing individuals who violate federal laws and obtaining complete operational control of the borders. What Trump fails to recognize however, is that the unchecked pursuit of these orders will cause a chain reaction of families becoming divided, legal immigrants being targeted and people being forced to return to countries that are under constant chaos, whether that be from external or internal forces.
Trump and his administrative team also have plans to continue their “end of radical indoctrination”, with the executive order titled, “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government”,
declared on January 20. This order directs federal agencies and employees to change the idea of “sex” entirely as a strict binary biological classification determined at birth. The policy requires all government-issued identification documents to reflect only biological “sex” as defined in the order. Once again, instead of creating a safe and diverse country for Americans to be able to live freely as they wish, a key concept that has been America’s symbol since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, Trump is instead restricting Americans to be who he wants them to be- what represents his own radical agendas.
Finally, Trump made a highly controversial executive decision on January 20, titled “Restoring the Death Penalty and Protecting Public Safety”. This directs the U.S. Attorney General to pursue the death penalty for capital crimes and encourages State Attorney Generals and District Attorney’s to pursue capital punishment when applicable.
Moving away from January 20, 2025, there have been several other executive orders that are nothing short of concerning, starting with the executive order placed on January 24 titled “Enforcing the Hyde Amendment” under the guise of Healthcare. This policy establishes the Hyde Amendment by revoking the past decisions made by the Biden Administration teams executive orders. The Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) will create guidance for the implementation of the Hyde Amendment, which prevents federal funding of voluntary abortions. It’s interesting how one of President Trump’s main concerns is steering women away from “radical ideologies”, in an attempt to, “protect” them. However, it appears that Trump’s main objective when it comes to women is to control their decisions and choices with their minds, and bodies alike.
It’s confusing that Trump centralizes his concerns on protecting women from gender ideologies and children from radical concepts – when it always appears that he is the one implementing these ideas and restricting people to a specific exhausting agenda. Many Americans reside in a state of panic resulting from Trump’s aggressive policies, unsure of what Trump’s true intentions are with all of these executive decisions. However it is always vitally important to recognize that Americans believe in freedom of speech, expression, equality and freedom to be whoever they choose to be. Americans will always know that no person, or president, will ever take that away from the hearts of our people.
